In Tulum for birthday celebrations, stayed the duration at El Pez in one of the beachfront plunge pool rooms. They are beautifully fitted out and were kept spotlessly clean for us. The food and drinks were on point, and best of all, the staff was incredibly friendly, without being over the top. Nothing was too much bother; they are a credit to the hotel.
El Pez has a unique location on the Tulum coast, slightly apart from the crammed in hotels further south. I would recommend El Pez or any of the other Colibri properties. Don’t let the sargassum put you off, there is plenty to see and do in the area, and all the hotels work hard to keep the beaches clean.
El Pez is a lovely hotel in a perfect location in Tulum. The concierges Denisse and Seima went above and beyond to make our trip special with a cozumel sea trek helmet diving tour recommendation. Given the Sargassum issue in the area, they helped us find beautiful beaches and helped us to make the most of our trip. I would highly recommend staying here!
My girlfriend and I stayed at El Pez for three nights during summer and fell in love with Tulum and this small luxury hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful – no request was too much – and their attention to detail was outstanding. All dinner and bar recommendations were perfect and very cool for us (mid-30s professionals living in London/Sydney).
The hotel itself features a rustic but vast, polished and beautifully decorated lobby, the beach bungalows give you that immediately relaxed holiday vibe, and there are ocean views throughout the whole property.
Another example was when we decide to rent a car a couple of days into our stay, and we were asking the hotel about parking and Jorge said: “don’t worry just park in front in the guest space when you return.” So when we returned, we parked in an open spot in front of the hotel as directed. Much to our delight later that evening when we were going back out for dinner, the hotel had replaced the generic guest parking spot sign with one personalized with my name…without me even telling them where I had parked!
That became my spot for the entire week, and it was just such a cute small detail that made me smile. The team 100% surprised and delighted me with the attention to detail in everything from restaurant suggestions to sightseeing recommendations to making sure we had everything we needed during the day. I was genuinely sad to leave and will most definitely stay there again the next time we return to Tulum.
